I love a conversation about stress, and it’s a conversation I have A LOT.
Â
For me stress is the biggest cause of hormone imbalance, poor sleep and inch loss resistance.Â
Â
But it’s not the big, occasional stress that does the damage, it’s the low daily stresses that we often don’t even recognise as stress, such as:
Â
🌪 Feeling out of control of a situation
🥺 Being overwhelmed by a circumstance, workload or uncontrollable or unknown outcome
🔥 Inflammation in the gut
đź’„Â Environmental toxins
🍔 Diet and food choicesÂ
🤸🏻‍♀️ Over exercising
🎢 Blood sugar imbalance / raised insulin
🤒 Illness / injury
🤯 Brain being in state of high alert / worry / fear
Â
So many women are constantly dealing with a combination of these stressors, day in and day out.Â
Â
Whilst in isolation they are all relatively low-level factors, the continuous build up can, over time, put our body into a state of chronic stress and cause a range of symptoms, many which are similar to those associated with declining sex hormones, including; brain fog, memory loss, low libido, anxiety, insomnia and digestive problems or food sensitivities.
Â
This is why I repeatedly say it’s never “just your age” or “just your hormones” and to ALWAYS dig deeper in to WHY are your experiencing the symptoms you are brushing off, especially:Â
Â
💆🏻‍♀️ That daily headache
🥴 A stiff neck
⏰ Getting second wind at 10pm or waking up at 2amÂ
🍫 Our mid-afternoon energy slumpÂ
Â
Untreated low-level chronic stress can also lead to problems with infertility, heart disease, metabolic and thyroid function, problems regulating the heart rate and much more serious disease (dis-ease in the body).
Â
Learning to identify, reduce or eliminate and actively manage your stress is, in my opinion, the most important thing you can do for your wellbeing.
